The Tesla Roadster is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) sports car produced by the electric car firm Tesla Motors in California between 2008 and 2012. The Roadster was the first highway-capable all-electric vehicle in serial production for sale in the United States in recent times.
Since 2008 Tesla had sold more than 2,400 Roadsters in 31 countries through September 2012, and most of the remaining Tesla Roadsters were sold in Europe and Asia during the fourth quarter of 2012. Tesla began producing right-hand-drive Roadsters in early 2010. The Roadster had a 2010 base price of US9,000 in the United States, GB£86,950 in the United Kingdom, A1,888 in Australia, and €84,000 in continental Europe. As an electric vehicle, the Roadster qualified for several government incentives in many nations.
